A fire broke out in a lounge area of the cruise ship World Legacy at around 4am on February 20, 2026, as the vessel sailed toward Singapore, killing one Indonesian crew member and sending at least four passengers to hospital. All 271 people aboard were evacuated to Singapore’s HarbourFront Ferry Terminal as firefighters brought the blaze under control.
The incident is a setback for the Singapore-based casino cruise operator, whose ship had only entered service two months earlier and had already drawn complaints over discoloured tap water, power outages and non-functioning elevators during its maiden voyages. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway, with authorities examining the vessel’s electrical and lounge-area fire suppression systems.
