Cadeler took delivery of Wind Ace, its 11th offshore wind turbine installation vessel and the second of three A-class newbuilds, built at COSCO Shipping Offshore’s yard in China and delivered in July 2026. Belgian marine engineering group Deme has meanwhile put its new transport-and-installation vessel Norse Wind to work on its first European assignment, with sister ship Norse Energi delivered on schedule for operations this summer.
The buildout reflects owners racing to secure high-capability tonnage before an expected supply crunch: a July 2026 report from class society ABS warns that demand for vessels capable of serving floating offshore wind projects could outstrip availability as soon as 2029. Fifty offshore wind vessels are now delivered, under construction or on order at US shipyards alone, according to industry estimates.
