The Piraeus Port Authority (OLP) has put forward changes to its corporate charter that would substantially widen the scope of its permitted business activities, according to Greek business media. The proposed amendments, set to go before an Extraordinary General Meeting of shareholders on August 27, 2026, would let the company invest in other businesses, establish subsidiaries, acquire or sell equity stakes, and take on the management of ports and facilities outside Piraeus. The most consequential change concerns Article 2 of OLP’s charter, which would add the ability to undertake business activities tied to the development, operation and management of port infrastructure beyond the port of Piraeus itself, extending explicitly to the management of other ports in Greece and abroad as well as to the planning, organization and provision of port services.

The revised wording would allow OLP to take part in concession tenders, joint investment vehicles, or companies undertaking the development and operation of port facilities elsewhere, according to the reports. The added clause, phrased as covering activities “in particular, but not exclusively,” avoids limiting the company strictly to the activities named in the charter, instead giving it greater flexibility to pursue new business lines directly or indirectly linked to the port and transport sector. Under the proposed language, OLP would be able to take stakes in companies of any legal form and business purpose, including firms operating in complementary fields such as transport, supply-chain logistics, energy, port services and infrastructure development, positioning the operator for growth well beyond its home terminal.
